Is knit a row purl a row, one row or two rows?
I’ve made several blocks of stockinette stitched blocks, and I know how to sew the sides together with a yarn needle, but I don’t know how to do the top and bottom parts (the cast on row and binding off row). Can someone please provide good instructions, pictures, and/or a video to help me out. Thanks.
If I cast on a row, do I purl the next for stockinette? Or, do I cast on, then knit, then purl? Thanks -
Will lace weight yarns knitted in stockinette on 000 needles look lacy or will it make a tighter, knit-fabric like result? I’ve never seen lace weight in person, so before buying some online, I want to make sure it will work. I’m trying to make ‘to scale’ doll clothes, so I need the tiny gauge, but I don’t want a lacy look…Thanks a bunch~!
Stockinette stitch is likely the most popular stitch. Its known for its familiar repeating vvvvvv v’s. This happens when you alternate you rows with ‘knit’ and ‘purl’ and repeat. The character of this stitch is that it sort of wants to curl into itself.

I’ve knitted a scarf entirely in the stockinette (or stocking) stitch, ie. knit one row, purl one row. As everyone knows, the stockinette stitch rolls like a scroll, and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to the edges to make it stop rolling? Knit something? Crochet something? Anything! Please help?
Thanks!
