Zen Knitting

I have not knitted in a while and have some yarn that I want to donate. Also I am wondering how I can go about doing that where I live?

I am a begginer who doesnt know how to follow pattern because i have never used one before. What is a good site or some thing that i could knit or crochet from a pattern?

I need to knit a scarf for my best friend for Christmas and I need a pattern. I am broke and only have one full skien of useable yarn. I would like to try something besides garter stitch, I use it all the time. I want to do something unique and fun, just like my best friend. And the scarf needs to be something that I can do very quickly – I only have three weeks at the most. Thank you.

I started knitting back in 2004, but I was teaching myself. I decided to start again and I want to do it right.
thanks to everyone for your imput. I am having a hard time choosing a best answer. I am going to go with some of your suggestions and see which ones are the best for me.

I removed this edging from an old pair of pillowcases my mom had embroidered when the old cases became unusable. I would like to reuse the edging. I have embroidered a new pair of cases that have the holes near the edge with a raw edge below that. Can I just slip stitch the crochet edging into the holes in the case with white embroidery floss or even plain white thread? What do I do about the raw edge? I appreciate any help with this, and since I am “craft-challenged,” the simpler the better! Thanks!

At first I wanted to knit my close friends scarves for Christmas, but then I thought, “Hey, why make them something ordinary that can only be used pretty much once during the year?!” Any ideas for fun, creative, and/or useful knitting projects that I can give as gifts?

knitting, sewing, stuff like that. there is an older lady down the road that enjoys this kind of stuff and she doesnt have a computer so i am trying to find some stuff on here that she could enjoy making. she likes to make blankets, quilts, stuff like that maybe some purses? i need directions too. please answer. thankyou
