how do you decrease as in tapering both sides of an item
sheilah
I have my way of takin the next row from
the top so that my work doesn’t curl up.
I quit using the side loops. It would curl
up my work.

thank you!
You can make afghans, sweaters or pretty much anything that you want to make. I just touch on the basics. There is a lady who does wonderful work with detailed instructions for tunisian. You can also find tunisian crochet groupls on Ravelry with free and inexpensive patterns there.
hi Teresa…I’m wondering if you’ve ever made anything using this style of crochet? What would one make? Would you just make squares & sew them togather? Or could you make something large enough on a single hook? I’ve done little swatches & I love it, I just don’t want to put a bunchof time into something just to have to pull it out. I’ve got a little swatch I’m doing right now, that I’ve done the first 2 rows of single crochet & it does seem to be curling a little. YUR THE BEST! thXX!
It truly eliminates all the curling and I don’t think it takes away from the appearance at all. Thanks for your comment.
That is a very good idea. Thank you for sharing your variation. I am sure a lot of other people will benefit from this, especially if it eliminates the curling.
Teresa, I just love this stitch. I sort of cheated at the beginning. I made my ch. then worked sc all the way to the end, ch 1, and sc back across. Then I took my Tunisian Hook and started pulling up loops then. This way I had a neat edge with the sc and no curling. I thought it was a good idea, can you think of some reason I shouldn’t have done it that way?
Cut the yarn, pull it through to secure and sew in the tail. You can do an edging if you would like.
how do you finish it off?
thank u! they do have them. i started and they fit and look great! thanks, you and teresa!
i have seen circular crochet hooks at joanns. i bet one of those would fit all of your stitches.
i tried and they did not, what do you reccomens i do. my size is a 10 and i cannot find a 12.
They will fit.
Hi teresa i have a pattern for an adut afghn and it say to chain 200 (wide)-but 200 chins cant fit all on one 12 inch hook. and it does not say to do seprait squares nor did the pictures look like sevral squaeres sewed together. How do i fit them on the hook????? can i squeeze them all together and make a bunch and loops? idk. all i know is that im praying u will reply. please!!!! I HAVE to make this afghan. And it say tunisian stitch, so plz reply, wether its personal message or a commet, plz!!
Yes, Bourdeaux. She’s simply using ch 40 as an example. If your pattern calls for 80 sts per row, as long as those 80 sts can fit on your afghan hook, you should be fine.
You mention that you’d made a chain of 40…I’m assuming that could be longer so long as the needle used can fit all the loops?
This looks great! I bet this would be amazing for blankets and stuff, because it looks like it works up very quickiy.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I greatly appreciate how quickly you got back to me!!! You’re the only person I go to to learn new stitches & patterns!!! & I saw the video’s on the triangle tops you posted in response to my question, & I wanted to thank you for posting those videos!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! You’re the best!!!!
I know that I have seen the hooks at AC Moore and Joann Fabric and Crafts. You may need to purchase it online.
Where can I get the hook that looks like a knitting needle with a hook on the end? I am working on 3 blankets at the same time, 2 requiring the tunisian stitching for the body. The Wal-Mart, Hancock, & the Michaels here don’t carry this hook. Can you help me?
It always curls. There is no way to prevent it.
do u need a special crochet needle?
Will it always curl like that when it’s finish? How do you prevent it from curling up like a scroll?
how do you decrcease afgan stich so i can finish i need to make 1/2 square
