Where I show casting on and knitting the ribbing of the sock. If people are interested I may make another video showing how I make the remaining parts of the sock. Here is the pattern I used, which was free on the internet. www.knitting-and.com And I also recommend a book by Cat Bordhi called “Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles”, which is how I learned the method I use. They sell it on Amazon. Here is her YT site: www.youtube.com And about her book… www.catbordhi.com And finally, these are the online video instructions I used for the three needle bind-off: www.knittinghelp.com Go to the page and scroll all the way to the bottom. There is a video demonstrating the three-needle bind-off in Continental and English Styles, I knit Continental. This is a great site to learn techniques you might read about in a pattern, but have no idea how to do it. For example, when someone ends their pattern (like this one I used) with the instructions, “Graft sts. together ( I used 3 needle bind off). Sew in loose ends.” And you say, “Huh?” Then just go to the site above and you’ll find out how! It’s an easy way to bind off, makes a nice seam too. It’s also the bind-off I use when attaching knitted arms to the bodies of my knitted sweaters. Ok, that’s enough, your brain my be full and mine is empty. Must have more coffee….

where is the pattern?
Thank you for this great video now I don’t need to buy fixed Circs for the hat I would like to make… Thank you…
Love the booty shake…that made me laugh. Anyhow, this video is great! Thanks
so much better than using 100 different needles!
I absolutely love this video. I am fairly new to knitting and really want to make socks. I am a bit intimidated by the patterns I have read, but I think maybe this slipper sock would be a good one to start with because the yarn and needles are bigger. Then maybe move on to smaller needles and yarn. Thanks so much for posting this video! And the pattern, I’m going to try this one very soon. I have to finish the shawl I am making for my mom first! LOL Happy Knitting!
I loved this, ravensky 23! I loved how close up it was, too (so there). Did you make one for turning the heel and doing the gusset? I am so very stuck–can’t “see” how the heel flap joins (my working yarn never seems to be in the right place). Loved the bootie shot/shake, too. Great fun! Thank you.
Might I suggest taking a deep breath, holding it for a moment, and then letting it out calmly and take your own advice before replying so rudely in the future. I merely made a comment about the quality of the video with legitimate suggestions on how to improve your own video, as you asked about in your own comment. There was no need to take such a hostile tone. Obviously nothing about this video was fun for you at all.
If I had that much time to devote to making videos I would never get anything knit! I’m a vlogger first, these videos are just for fun, I’m not trying to out do any other knitting videos, hell, I don’t even have time to watch others videos. If I wanted it to be a profession I would quit work…not going to happen. Please watch the videos with the spirit of fun they were made with…
You can improve the issues with your video simply by watching other well done knitting videos and learning. I would suggest a tripod, a basic piece of video equipment, to begin with. Then take test videos to make sure that everything is focused properly, and make a note of what is in screen and what is not, and attempt to stay within that area.
please can we have the video showing how you shape the heel and gusset. I am stuck! thanks
Sorry about the motion sickness! Here are some virtual Dramamine pills for you! oooooo I’m not a professional and I’m the first one to admit I’m a far better knitter than I am a videographer! Do you knit? If you make a video let me know so I can learn how to improve mine. Thanks for watching!
Might I suggest placing the camera father away and moving around a lot less, and focusing before starting? Everything was so close to the camera and moving around so much that it made me motion sick, and then I couldn’t see what you were doing at all.
I’m working on one now on how to finish one off. Should be posting it soon.
Thanks for watching anyway. Perhaps you could make a video and show us all how?
Yes, it is called Magic Loop Method. There are lots of videos, but I reccomend the Knit Picks one. It is the best explanation.
I would love to see a video with you making the rest of the sock. I am a beginner and learned to do the ribbing with this video.
Have been knitting for years and can knit most things but have never tried socks, and suddenly have a ‘need’ (do you know what I mean ?!!!) to knit socks. Thanks for your video, I’m off to start my sock on circ needles – do not get on with the DPNS.
nice butt addition to the video….
I only have one circular needle…is it possible to knit socks with only one?
thaks for your info…i am now knitting my first sock ever…finger crossed…
Yes, very much like a baby weight yarn. If you Google “sock yarn” you will find plenty. There are so many kinds it is hard to suggest just one. And. if you find a sock pattern you really like you can always adjust the gauge to any yarn so it will fit the pattern. Good luck!
i am in australia and the guages for yarn are different….i don’t understand what sport weight is…is it lighter? like for baby knits? i have knit and crochet for years but never tried socks and want to get it right…..i guess i could practice with anything really? what do you suggest?
Commenting on your old video!
Debbie I just tried to do a pair on circular needles and I used the instructions in Socks Soar on Two Circulars and I got so confused when it said to move stitches to the other needle but I wasn’t confident that I was even ON the right needle and sure enough I must not have been because it looked VERY wrong! lol I got mad and put them away and started socks on dpns and now I’m happy again! haha But I am going to try to circs again!
perhaps you could stich the words on later .. when sock occurs stop knitting.. sounds like a warning poster
