that theme really gets tied together in the new album. It’s hard to explain, and I’ll do a terrible job, I’m sure. It seems to me (from a bunch of the new lyrics) that’s he’s realizing the oneness of everything (“you’re not you, you’re everyone else”…”we’re not so sure of separations anymore”, etc) and shying away from the mindset that everything is inherently different. A sort of existentialist thought, maybe? Idk… that’s my viewpoint on his words anyway, and I totally agree with them.
i think that arron also wanted to communicate that God is in everything and He is all that really exists. so the fact that we exists is just confirming that God exists and that because He exists we do not exist and we exist through him- only He exists.
I didn’t either at first, but I started getting it when he said “Only you exist”. I think it is like a statement of denying oneself and giving honor and praise to God. He is quite humble, indeed. Also, I thought it was brilliant that the words “I do not exist” are the first words at the beginning of Messes of Men and the last words of Sweater Poorly Knit. It’s a reoccuring theme that ties the album together in a cyclical fashion.
They are playing music together, this isn’t a concert. Did you guys (the negative nancys…) not listen to the lyrics? Maybe you didn’t understand them, he explains them at the beginning. Listen again, and enjoy everyone playing and singing together.
The whole point is for everyone to sing and participate in the song. At the beginning you can hear him explaining the chords in the song so others can play along.
It’s cool they sang and posted it on here probably knowing people would make fun of their voice or be critical of them.

if you listen to the first part of the video aaron is telling him the chords, F#m, E, F#M, E… A, C#m… E. something like that
Did the guy with the cello play by ear? mwY is my favorite band & I would love to play their music with my cello. :]

Obviously most of the people didn’t wait until the end of the video to start complaining; as if they had anything!
Aaron was pretty much begging everyone to sing along.
