how do you keep track of what side is the right side? I tried this,,,knit 2, pearl 2 and always get confused! I thought about putting a sticker on one side to mark it?
i’m so glad somebody asked this question. i’ve been working on a scar for months but can’t finish because i hate the weird look of the line thingy when you add a color. I need help too.
Is there any way to eliminate the weird stripe of dark against light when you change color? It looks a lot like needle work and its not exactly pretty… Could anyone plz help? im a little bit of a beginner
I am a beginner at knitting and I’m working on a huuuuuuge scarf that changes colors many, many, many times. So THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO much for this clear tutorial ^^
I have found this video *very* helpful! Thank you.
Not only are your instructions clear and detailed, but I **really** appreciate the thick yarn in contrasting colors. This makes it easy to see exactly what you’re doing.
If you are doing color work on something that has a right and wrong side (like a hat) you can just pick up the yarn and carry it over to where you need it. Make sure you do not pull tight on it or you will have a pucker in that area of your knitting. You can also cut the yarn leaving about 6 inches to weave in and pick up the color you need and start again like I showed in my video.

I loved that you used the bulky yarn. It made it very easy to see the process. Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this – it was so helpful! =)
I’m so glad I could help you out.
Yes it does but knit (or purl) both stitches together when you get to them.
Very, very helpful. Well illustrated and explained…especially for the noob knitters (like myself).
When you changed colours and knitted the tail in, surely that then makes two stitches?
@meekaminniee not that I know of because you are adding yarn and that’s just the way it knits together.
@cutxiongurl you cast off and on your last stitch you cut your yarn and pull it through the last stitch.
@crazyezra LOL….you’re cute. Thank you.
You are a knitting goddess.

Most people leave about a 6 inch tail. When you go to weave (sew) that in you wont use all 6 inches, but it give you enough for reassurance.
