(Those ads are not mine). Wind yarn onto cardboard TP tubes; or using a smooth spindle wind center pull yarn balls. The crank pulley and the spindle are independent with a 1:3 ratio; 1 pulley revolution gives 3 spindle revolutions.

this looks like so much fun to design, make and use! It’s cute! Great job!
Thank you!
That’s about the coolest thing ever! I never thought of using tp centers to put yarn on! Brilliant!
Yes. I have two spindles. One fits the T.P. rolls. The other is smooth enough that it can be removed; leaving a center pull ball if you like.
Very clever and nice little contraption. But can you pull from the centre once you are done? That is the only reason i wind my yarn, so I have a cake to pull from the middle
It is sooo clever and well done!!!!!
I wish you had a pattern or an instructable: I would copy it in a shot!!!!!! Bravo!
@Raychel34 Thank You!
Love It! What a beautiful piece of work, both the wood work and fiber. Thanks for sharing the video!
@BarbedLotus >Bulky yarn – As is it probably wouldn’t do bulky yarn. Thank you for kudos.
I love how nice and even the yarn looks when its done. The store bought one is functional but the ball doesn’t look near as pretty when its done. Would this hold up to bulky weight yarns like t-shirt yarn?
Way cool!
So cool! I agree with irishhoney22, amazing job! So jealous! =)
@irishhoney22 Tnx, appreciate the kudos!
That is GREAT!! Don’t listen to the haters. I think every knitter wished they had a significant other, who cared enough to make them one of these. Or maybe you made it for yourself. Either way GREAT WORK, what a mind you have!!!
Would you be my neighbor?
Love this … my DH would have, too!
Now – when will you be moving next door?
@TheMrpiggyboy My thumb must not be as long as yours ;>)
You could have wound 10,000 balls on your thumb in the time it took you to make that contraption. happy inventing.
That is some NICE craftsmanship. Awesome, and I like the yarn too, fun to watch it change colour as it’s being wound.
INGENIOUS!!!!
@coomason5 That works too and the price is right! I do get a lot of satisfaction out of engineering, building and using my gadgets ;>)
@Buzzsawman That would be great. I’m sure you’ll enjoy putting them together. :>)
I wind the yarn around my hand until I get a thick band, slide it off my hand and continue wrapping the remaining yarn into a ball. No money required.
that is one clever little doohickey. I love the simplicity….would you mind if I build a couple of these to sell?
I love this! Please make up some plans – I’d certainly buy a set.
@AOGLDSMember92510 – No plans at this time.
Do you have plans for this ???
