I would like to know if anyone has heard or has attempted to spin wild cotton grass into usable textile for knitting? The wild cotton I am thinking of is what grows in Alaska, specifically Eriphorum scheuchzeri. Thanks!
I’d like to know if the cotton itself can be spun. I assume if grass can be, then the cotton can also. Has anyone tried this?

Yes. If you are keen enough you can spin many grasses. The preparation of the grass is the key to success. If the grass has been flattened with a firm roller it will soften the stringy stems and allow you to feed it more easily. A good rub up between the hands will also soften it and allow for more even and tighter weaving. A bit of work but worth the special result.
