Does it matter what size you use? I want to make the 1 hour scarf pattern on the back. It says use 4 strands of yarn together as if they were one but it doesn’t say what size. At first I started grabbing bulky yard in the store. But I started to think 4 stands of bulky would be too big so I put them back & got worsted weight. Now I’m worried worsted might not be big enough. I just don’t want it to look too lacy.

I’ve gotten really good results with 4 strands of worsted-weight yarn and Speed Stix. I’ve also used them with a single strand of a super-bulky yarn and gotten good results.
Suggestion: Cast on for the scarf and knit about 6″–then decide whether or not you like the fabric you get. If you like it, keep going. Otherwise, unravel and start over with 5 strands of worsted-weight yarn. Five strands will be plenty heavy enough.
