I’ve been knitting scarves and getting a bit more intricate with my designs. I’d like to knit a blanket next (not for a baby, for an adult) and I’m not sure how many stitches I should cast on in order to make it big enough. I haven’t decided what yarn I’m going to use but I know that I’ll be using a size 10 circular needle. Any ideas?

The correct number of stitches will depend on the gauge you get with the yarn and pattern you choose. Roughly, I’d estimate 250 stitches, more or less.
You might want to look at some of the patterns on this page (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/afghans.php ) to get an idea of the pattern, yarn, and other details that you’d like to use. Or Lion Brand has free patterns for lots of afghans (http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?search=Search&searchText=knit+afghans&I2.x=0&I2.y=0&I2=Search&craft=0&categoryKey=&subcategory=Any&size=&edition=&cost=Any&componentCategoryKey=Any&yarnClass=Any&searchType=0 ).
I was looking for patterns for blankets but then I came across them as being referred to as ‘throws ” so this is what I came up with. I looked at a couple and they came up with the measurements of 48X60 but if you can figure it you can make it wider. If not email me and I will try to help. So here are your throws from A to Z Hope you can find a good one.
