I am searching for a company or shop or anyone that can knit me a jumper by the begining of August. All I have is a picture of the jumper- no pattern. The jumper I would like has a picture of a space shuttle on the front of it, and stars and and sun on it, just like the jumper the child wears in the movie ‘The Shining’.

Try the following:
1. Is there a local market in your area that sell handmade items? Look for ones that sell hand knits and approach them to see if they could do it or recommend someone.
2. Try your local wool shop – maybe a Spotlight or Lincraft if there aren’t any small shops and ask if you could put a sign up in their window.
3. You could try Ravelry.com – you would probably have to join (it’s free), then search the groups for a Melbourne group and then ask the question to see if anyone is interested.
I think your main problem would be cost. I’m in Sydney and knit a fair bit for grandchildren however if you had to pay me an hourly rate I doubt you would be prepared to pay it. For example, depending on the size of the person you were knitting for, it could easily take 20 hours to hand knit a jumper, although there are speed knitters who could do it faster. Cost of quality wool could be $100 for an adult jumper. You may be able to get someone who uses a knitting machine and could do it faster but I would still expect you would have to pay anywhere within $300 to $500 for the finished product.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
