Hi. I’ve never worked with circular needles before, but I understand the concept and am eager to get started. I want to make my brother a simple beanie that looks like a swirl at the top, like a spiral if you know what I mean. I want it to be seamless basically. I can’t find any simple patterns. Literally. I don’t want any ribs or cables, just the knit stitches to show on the outside. No border unless it’s super simple and not too girly. Does anyone know of a hat pattern like this? Thanks.

I made this pattern ive made it for boys
cast on 34 wit size 13 knit 5 rws in 1×1 rib.
Knit until hat measures 5 in. , then do the following rows
Rw 1: Knit 2, *K2tog, K2, repeat from * 8 times. k1
Rw 2 and 4: purl
Rsw 3 K 1, *K2tog, K 1, repeat from * 8 times, K1
Rw 5 K1, K2tog 8 times, K1
Drow yarn through sts and end
One thing to think about might be going with a multicolored yarn from Red Heart. Here is an example I did.

This one was done for charity using Red Heard Supersaver Plum Pudding on a size 8 needle. It was done using all knit stitches. It doesn’t swirl in stitches, just the colors.
There are a lot of colors that would work for boys or men. Depending on the size, that would make how many stitches to cast on and how long to make the hat before shaping it for the crown.
