I got a pattern to make a stripped kitten. Easy pattern, but I am still new at alternating yarn colors. Any suggestions on how I alternate different color yarns? I cant seem to figure it out.

You can just change at any time you feel like it. If you are knitting in the round, there is no real beginning or edge of row. It’s best to start at the end of a row, but you can change at any time, if it works for your design.
You never ever tie a knot in knitting! That just horrifies me! You can make a single tie to hold it, but you have to go back and untie it and darn in the ends. I just drop one yarn, add another. No, they do not come apart!! I also weave in the ends as I knit, so nothing to do at the end.
here is the link explaining you how to knit stripeshttp://knitting.about.com/od/knittingski…
see the examples in video links below and i m sure you will understand how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kscakqPUp…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7zW2XFda…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u3VhDh0C…
Change colors at the end of a row if you can. Just tie the new color on to the strand you’re working with. Drop the old color to the back of the work and start working with the new color. If you have a gap, you can try to move the knot a little and close it up.
i just cut the old color and tie it onto a new color and start knitting normally it doesn’t come undone but i can’t make any promises it all depends on how good of a knot tier you are!
