I’m trying to work a pattern for a scarf that changes colors every two rows, and the beginning of the pattern says, “Because each colour stripe is only two rows the yarn can be carried up the sides without being cut.” I was wondering if you just put the yarn over the needle and continue knitting or is there some way to tie it? can anyone give me some detailed instructions on how to do this, I REALLY want to make this scarf. (Here’s a link to it, if that helps, http://www.ysolda.me.uk/wordpress/index.php/skull-illusion-knit-scarf/ )

Dye the yarn a different colour?
Or buy yarn with two different colors and when you knitting one color about half way through start the second row. I saw one of my grandmother’s friend do this.
I do crocheting but the two are kind of the same.(maybe I should try this)
When you start the row with your new color drop the color you were just using. Pick up the new color. Twist the new color strand around the old color and just start knitting with your new color. You want to make sure your first stitch is tight enough so the old color doesn’t pull through to the right side. But don’t pull it too tight so your stitches pucker. I hope this helps.
