Hi, Nibblet.
I am not a knitter, but doesn’t “felted” mean shrunken wool.
I always test new techniques. Make a small sample of the knitting and iron on a patch to see what the results will be.

Your felted knitting is already ‘destroyed’. I have a pressing sheet, and it may be worth your while acquiring one, or else using baking parchment. If you iron on Low with a towel, then not enough heat will go through to melt the glue on the patch. And remember to finish off by ironing on the wrong side as well.
