I’m a little new to knitting, I’ve been doing it for years but I’ve never made anything, I’d knit half a blanket and then unravel it and start over. This time I want to make a blanket..
Does anyone have any patterns? I want it to look beautiful, yet simple.
I can only knit stitch and purl stitch. I want it to be a regular sized blanket, not a baby blanket.

You should knit an afghan! They can be as simple as garter stitch squares or have other more elaborate patterns. A good site with a lot of patterns is knittingpatterncentral.com
Hope I helped!
All you need to know is the knit stitch and the purl stitch. Well, there are some variations–yarn over and knit 2 together, for example–but they are not difficult.
The places I send new knitters to look for patterns include Knitting Pattern Central (here’s the link to their list of free afghan patterns: http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/afghans.php ) and the web sites of the yarn companies. They yarn companies have numerous attractive free patterns available to entice you to buy their yarn. While not all of them are simple, they do usually rate the patterns as suitable for beginners, easy, intermediate, and experienced. Here are several yarn company sites:

Here is what I do. I type “afghan knit pattern” or something like that into the search box on the computer. Then I click on “images” at the top of the screen. I get a whole screen full of pictures of afghans. If I like one, I click on that picture to see the website and maybe find the pattern. Otherwise, I go to the next screen and keep looking.
Sometimes I go to the library and look through all their free books for patterns and ideas. Or I go to Vogue Knitting and look at their free stitch patterns and make up my own pattern using a multiple of the stitch they show to get the width I want. This way you have to make a test piece and measure to figure out how big it will be. If that sounds too confusing then just stick with the patterns from online or the library. I hope this helps.
