I wanted to make a scarf with this technique. Is this possible? If so, how many should I chain to start?
iam confused on the 1st row… the 1st & last sc decrease on the 1st row, am i doing it differently than the other rows? Am i skipping the 3rd chain in the decrease? or am i pulling up the 3 loops together and then pull through all 3? (bc you say the center is diff than the edges…. but in the 1st row you say to do the decrease like the center)

Well, i got as far as 60 stitches and have done them correctly on practice yarn. Lookin’ good. Now if I could only do it on 120. That would make a nice blanket. I have so much yarn from garage sales. Somehow with that large number of chains (+4), I seem to lose count or something. Maybe this time. It took about 100 tries to get this. I always wanted to be able to do SOMEthing without a pattern. This is it, folks !

I love the fact that you face the camera toward the knitting. I was not able to find many like this, it is very helpful. Now that my grandmother is gone, I thought I would never remember how to crochet.

I am always getting one less at the end of the first row.
It is possible that you have have not counted right? Both sides should have a decrease.
I am trying to make a baby blanket and I did multiple of 15 (6x) +4 but I end up with an increase instead of a decrease. am I missing something?
Yes you can. You will add an extra 15 chains for each ripple that you want to make.

3 single crochet will be in the same stitch for the increase. This is what creates the peak of the ripple. If you look below my channel banner “The Art of Crochet”, click on “More Info” and you will see a link to my crochet blog. I have a picture diagram of the stitch placement. That may help you understand where the stitches go.
nvm i got the start, but i noticed you said to do do 5 single crochet, and the you say do 3 single crochet. so just 8 or am I missing something?
how do you start a single one? like I know how to do the single but how do you start it O_o
