When you do your stitches, any of them, just regular single stitch or double or this one, do you do it fairly loose or tight. It looks tight, but seems loose. I ended up having to put a bandaide on my left index finger cause the yarn seemed to saw my skin raw, and my dad said it's cause I'm holding it to tight, however I feel that it seems to look nicer if the stitches are tighter, and i can keep them more even.

I have never had a problem with yarn cutting my finger but I have with thread. I change my stitch tension all the time so it is never the same. Some stitches look better with a looser tension. Some look better with tighter tension. I will send you the recent video I did on tension. Most of the time I am in between but it shows the range of how tight or how loose I will crochet.

You have to have some many chains to make each star. For this pattern stitch it is 2. For each star you want to make, add 2 extra chains. The 3 is done only 1 time in the beginning to make up the difference for an odd amount of chains.

It is really hard for me to know what is happening. I would suggest that you keep practicing and you will get it.
