I am just learning to read instructions but found it very difficult until I stumbled upon your videos!
I watched your video for snowflake #1 and wrote the instructions as I went….then I compared them to your written instructions to see the dif in my comprehension of written instructions. I LEARNED A LOT!!! Thank you!
I had to look up the double cluster, triple, and picot because I’d never heard of them before. Thank goodness you have posted vids on all of them! thnx mine looks great
This is a good video. However, you shouldn’t skip stitches like the peeko stitch. Not everyone knows how to do them and it is good to at least show how to do it once before just skipping it. I still give it five stars because you go slow enough for everyone to follow.
Please don’t think I am telling you how to do your videos because you are the one who knows how to do this and we are learning from you. =)
You are welcome. I am glad you like the snowflakes. I have worked up three more snowflake patterns that I am going to post in the next couple of weeks.
I love your videos! My grandma used to crochet snowflake ornaments every year for each grandchild to put on their tree. With age she is no longer able to do so and I have taken over. I started looking for patterns just before you posted your videos. Thank you so much! They are so easy to follow!
I am following along and your video is hard to follow, you skip many things while showing…you are not making it easy to follow along because you cut your video and splice it together after you do things.. it really makes it harder to do this.
Thank you so much, all your videos are brilliant and i’ve learnt so much from them, i’ve even gotten better than my nan who showed me how to make a granny square lol. now all i gotta do is make a snowflake, is there a way to do a snowflake that is smaller but still with wool?
Congratulations!!! Keep practicing and you will gain an understanding of the stitch placement. Mine are lopsided too until they are blocked. Your snowflake may not be as lopsided as you think.
I MADE ONE! It was a little lopsided but I found myself knowing where the holes are. I’m going to make a dozen more til I get good at this. Thank you so much for spending the time to record this video. Someone gave me one of these when my son was in 2nd grade — he’s graduating college now. I’ve tried my best to master different patterns since then with no success. Bless you!
This is why I prefer to make the tutorials in yarn so it is larger and hopefully you can see what is going on. They are a whole lot prettier in thread.
Thanks so much — watching the video again I figured out. I think I actually am going to be able to do this thanks to you. I finally figured out the problem I have with these patterns (I’ve made afghans and quite a few other things easily but just can’t get the snowflakes) is not the stitch but WHICH hole to do it in. I just tore one out because the first picot was not all in the same hole — the 2nd 1 was ok then the 4th one somehow I got the thread flipped. Trying a larger needle!
I apologize if this got posted 2x. I’m so excited — I’ve been trying to make a snowflake ANY SNOWFLAKE for years. I finished round one and I have a little wheel with 6 spokes. So far so good. The I start the picots — I can’t find the chain 6 that I’m supposed to be slipping into.
I am so determined to master this! I’ve been trying to crochet a snowflake, ANY SNOWFLAKE for years. I finished round one. When I get to the picots I get lost. It’s usually the simple stuff that gets me i.e. it says slipstich to chain 6. Where is the chain 6? I have a nice little “wheel” with six spokes but looking back see no ‘chain 6″

Thank you. You must have missed the picot stitch at time code 3:23. I showed all 3 of them.

My crochet blog has the full set of written instructions and a symbol chart.

The patterns can be modified. This one is larger because I made it for thread and demonstrated in yarn. That is why it is larger.

The chain 6 is the chains between the cluster of stitches.
