I heard recently about crochet jewelry done with wire and beads. I want to try it, but don’t want to invest a lot of money into buying a book on it before trying it in case I either don’t like it or am not good at it. I’ve tried googling for patterns, but most of what I find is using yarn. Does anyone have a good resource for patterns that would use wire and beads?

It’s called “bead crochet”. There are plenty of patterns online.
If you do well with regular crochet I would suggest buy some craft wire 28-32 gauge and play. Come up with your own. I have been crocheting with wire for about 4 years. Everything I make is free from. I myself have a hard time finding books or magazines with wire crochet and a large variety in them. That’s way I just come up with my own. And most of the time I would say its better that way. It makes it one of a kind. Contact if you have any questions
Have you tried 123stitch.com? By the way, I was thinking of doing that too. Right now I have a site at http://www.eloquentjewelry.com and I was thinking of making one just like it based on crochet jewelry. Check it out!
Ravelry.com
It’s a free website for crochet and knitting. They have jewelry patterns listed as well.
