I’m a big crocheter, and I’m looking to sell anything and everything crocheted on ebay or etsy. But I have no idea what people would buy! If you were to buy something crocheted, what would it be?
I have sold scarves, socks, blankets and those cute little flip flops with fun fur crocheted around the top. I’m just learning how to do hats and I hear that those do well. The color schemes, I believe are what’s important. Most of my vibrant colored items sold better than my darker colors. I guess it just depends on the person. Good luck with this!
I love the idea of a wii cozy. Maybe I’ll make that. lol.
I never looked into selling crocheted items per say, but I did look into quilted stuff and it’s just not cost effective. However, yarn is cheaper than fabric I think, so just make what’s fun.
Baby blankets do well as well as baby clothes I think. But there’s so much stuff you could make.
Amigurumi is very big right now. Look on flickr for inspiration. You can also join crafting communities such as Craftster.org. Look around in these communities or ask what people look for in a crocheted item.
I currently sell fashion-forward, traditional, and contemporary hats on Etsy. I also crochet baby blankets, amigurumi, jewelry, and other assorted goodies. You have to find a niche that hasn’t been filled. Or find something that you would like to make, but put your own special twist on it.
Browse the categories on Etsy and see what others are selling. It is best to research so you don’t flood an already overly-saturated market with more items that people simply don’t want to buy. Research what is selling the best and what isn’t. Etsy’s Pounce and Time Machine features are great for this…just sold items will give you an idea of what is popular and items about to expire will give you an idea of what is often passed over:

i dont really use ebay i prefer jtbids as prices are usually cheaper due to no listing fees but i always keep and eye open for mittens for my children
I like the idea of mittens, scarves and hats for the winter time.
What about Americana items, such as American flags thorughout our nations history for spring and summer?

If you do decide that Etsy is a route that you would feel comfortable taking, I wish you the best of luck. It is an absolutely wonderful community!
