This was the most difficult part to learn in crochet for me when I was learning.
I use a chain one as first stitch in single crochet and have many methods of increase and decrease.
I search for ways to make edge stitches as neat as possible, just want to see how other crocheters do it. So thanks for trying to help me.

This site does not have videos, but she has pictures to show how to increase and decrease.

To find the pics, click on the stitch you will be using (such as sc or dc) and go to the bottom of that page. The links for increasing and decreasing are at the bottom of her instruction pages for each stitch.
Here is a video on edging:

Wanda,
Great question! I know that a site called Annie’s Attic.com can answer all your stitching questions. You will need Acrobat Reader installed on your computer(free), and they also offer a free e-news letter which comes out once a month. I have gotten MANY useful hints from this site, and hope they can do the same for you! Good luck! Pam
To increase you do two of the same stitches in one stitch. To decrease you stitch two stitches at the same time. If you are now working on the edges if it starts to pucker up , back up and don’t increase and if it starts to pull back you are decreasing too much. You will have to keep an eye on the work to see it is going the right way.
This might help!
