I am making some child-size scarves as Christmas presents and am not sure how long to make them. The kiddos are 2 & 3 years old. Any ideas/patterns would be helpful. I will be using crochet, and am at the beginner/easy stage of learning. Thanks!

There is a super cute beginner crochet scarf pattern here http://www.bernat.com/search.php?pst=c&pspt=g&psub=t&advps=y You have to register, but it’s free and then you’ll have access to all of their free patterns.
Check http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com for scores of patterns. Typically, a child’s scarf is about 3′ long.
You may want to check into weather you want a small child to wear a scarf. They could easily get caught in play equipment . Just a thought
The scarf, including fringe, should not be longer than the distance from the child’s neck to the ground, because they have a habit of trailing scarves behind them. Any longer and the scarf will be able to drag behind the child instead of merely falling to the ground.
If your child wears scarves, more power to you; however, if your child does not wear scarves, you may want to consider crocheting a neckwarmer instead. It’s like a scarf but you stitch it into a circle so that you just pull it over the child’s head and it sits around his neck. My daughter will wear a scarf, but my sons do everything with their scarves but wear them.
