We’re traveling and daughter wanted me to teach her to crochet during the flight time.
So we went and had them with us after receiving the first response; thanks for the encouragement! I thought everyone came up with what I figured I’d have to do: spend time calling around and so on.
Katie loves crocheting, lol, she’s making all the things I think I did when I was little and first started.
Good Luck to everyone and thanks so much for helping me decide to take or not…..
By the way, the trip was to see my #1 son graduate from Boot Camp at Ft. Jackson. 4,000 miles later I’m so proud and equally scared.

I think you probably could. I recently took some knitting needles with me coming home from South Carolina and had no trouble going through the airport security points.
I think it’s a good idea.
Good luck and have fun!
I don’t see why not, just make sure you tell the security person, just in case.
Hi! As long as you are flying in the United States (including Hawaii) you can according to air regulations. However some airlines are a little stiffer than others, so to avoid your project getting thrown away or having to unravel – check with your carrier’s web site for a list of the approved items!
Have a great trip!
here is what i would suggest. check with the airline that you are flying with to see if they will allow the items to be brought aboard with you. then contact the airports that you are flying out of.
i would not suggest taking scissors for they will be confiscated. at the local craft store among the crochet/knit accessories — there is a cutter that is allowed on the plane. the cutter is by clover and the shape is circular with the slots to pull the yarn through against the blade.
i hope this helps.
for a full list of what is/not allowed take a look at

we have just had this discussion in one of my crochet groups and this link was posted.
