Question by julierose84: Beginners Kid’s Crochet Projects?
I work at an after school care facility. Next month I will be leading a crochet “club” for any interested students from 3rd through 5th grade. As far as I know, none of these kids know how to even chain. Once they get the hang of that, and of single crochet (maybe even double?) are there any simple crochet patterns that might appeal to children in this age group? I am expecting mostly girls to attend, but who knows, there might be a boy or two that shows up!
Thanks for your help!

I googled it and what mostly came up were patterns for childrens clothing. I only could find one site for things they could crochet, and I have my doubts that they’re simple enough for them to do. But you can take a look and decide:

Question by Amanda: Crochet: Beginner needs help making sense of an instruction?
Hi, I am about to make a Beginner bag using my Boye “I Taught Myself Crochet” book, and I can’t even make sense of the first instruction.
It says: Foundation chain: Using 1 strand each color held together, chain 37.
What does the 1 strand each color held together mean?
Best answer:
Answer by V!cky
I’m assuming that by 1 strand each color, they mean that this project is made with more than one color yarn. You would just hold the strands of yarn together, and chain crochet 37 stitches. This is your base, or foundation, chain. In any crochet project you do, you will begin with a base chain. You crochet off of this chain and then when you reach the end you do an extra chain stitch and turn your work. Then you can begin on the next row.

Question by ApatheticAngel: “Crocheting” with a board..?
Okaay. Well, today at school my friend brought a purple square with hooks on the edges. It was sort of like a board. Anyway, it came with a plastic needle and some fabric pieces. You can make a “design” with different colors and everything.
I’m DYING to know what it’s called. Any ideas?

You’ve chained your required number of stitches, or worked a row of stitches, now chain 2 more and in the second of these from the hook, make 6 single crochets in that stitch.

Question by Chuck’s Babe
: I want to crochet an Irish rose like the one in “The encyclopedia of crochet” but the page is ripped out!?
I saw a picture of the one in the book on an earlier page but when I flipped to the page the pattern is supposed to be on, it was gone! I got the book from the library and was looking forward to making that Irish rose. If you have the book or go to the library often and they have that book, I would appriciate it if you can give me the pattern or find one online that is just as good.
P.S. I looked online and couldn’t find one as good as it.

Question by ohemgee474: can someone plz decipher this “crochet” language????
ch 2. 6 hdc in first ch. join
ch 2. 2 hdc in each stitch around. join.
ch 2. 1 hdc in next st. 2 hdc in next st. repeat around. join.
ch 2. 1 hdc in each ch around. Do this till toe area is the length you want.
ch 2. hdc in next 14 sts. turn and continue this till foot area is length you want. You want the slipper to fit snug, so when you get to the heel, put right sides together adn slip stitch shut.
Do a row of sc across the top of the slipper to finish the edge. You can add a strap by starting on one side and making it 2 sc wide then slip stitching it to the opposite side.
in…. ugh… something i can understand?

my first reaction was “what don’t you understand?” then decided I can’t explain it even tho I understand it – My suggestion would be to get someone to show you first so you can pick it up (that’s how I learned) – I will admit I’m having some difficulty picturing the finished product tho.
